Help answer the question about real estate agent

What duties should I expect a real estate agent who is a relocation specialist to do for me?
How is a relocation specialist r/e agent different from a standard agent?
I am moving to a new city in a short amount of time. I need to find temporary living and then will be in search of buying a home. Should I expect either type of agent to help me find temporary housing for my family? What should I expect out of my real estate agent throughout my move?

Well, this type of business can be extremely frustrating and overwhelming but can be VERY rewarding SERIOUSLY!!! Im only 20 years of age and im averaging 7k a month. One piece of advice, don't give up on it, real estate always changes so you have to adapt to it every time. and remember one thing, there is no limit in how much you make in real estate. i love my job, i mean my career. lol. do you know anyone that can say that about there employment? dont think so good luck

I am a Realtor and I would say first you have to like helping people. How long to be successful? Depends on your def. I felt successful the instant I passed the state test. Worth it? Yes. Do I like it? Yes. Do it again? Yes, I wish I had done it sooner. I would say the single most important thing getting started was to find an office that offers training and support. It is an expensive business to get into – you are, after all running your own business and marketing yourself – have several months worth of savings to live on if you are not able to rely on a spouse or partners income until you get going. And don't knock that 3% – or whatever it works out to be, it can be different on every deal, even a small % of several hundred thousand is still sweet money.

Josh, First and foremost: Quit Smoking Weed!! Now I'm not saying that to judge you but it obviously impacts you or you wouldn't bring it up. Also, weed kills ambition and if you want to be in real estate, you have to be ambitious.

OK, enough preaching. Well, no sorry but more preaching. Your 18 not 68. Going out on a Wednesday shouldn't make a difference to you. Earn your weekends by busting your ass and making the kind of money that entitles you to take weekends off even in real estate.

OK, now I'm done preaching. All that said, you may want to look at commercial real estate sales as opposed to residential real estate. Residential means selling homes and when do most people look at homes? You guesssed it on weekends. Commercial real estate is the selling of commercial properties such as apartments, retail, office, land or industrial buildings. It is very hard work and I still work most Saturdays albeit from home catching up on paperwork or other mundane tasks that I didn't get to during the week.

Commercial brokers spend most of their time on the phone "cold calling" initially until they establish their clientele and even then continue to prospect for new clients. Its a never ending battle, takes lots of hard work and the occasional weekend but is also very rewarding and can be lucrative if done correctly. It takes a highly motivated individual to be successful in this or any other sales oriented field so make sure you go into this with your eyes wide open and a willingness to learn and work your butt off.

If after reading this you are still interested then go and Google a local real estate school in your area and find out what it takes to get licensed. Depending on the state this can take 3-6 months. Once your licensed (there is no separate desigation for commercial or residential – you can sell both with the same license) find out who the local players are in your area or if you are in commuting distance to a big city than look up some of the national firms such as CB Richard Ellis or Marcus & Millichap. If you are in California, Nevada or Arizona go to http://www.brcadvisors.com and check out their web site. You then interview with them and hopefully one of them accepts you into their company on an internship like basis (remember this is 100% commission based – no salary) and you learn the business.

    Good luck!

My husband and I are both in our 30's, married 14 years, no children… no real desire for children on my part.. maybe occasionally on his, but when we discuss it, he always says no. We, like you, have animals that we baby. Truthfully, I don't really enjoy other peoples children and how they let them run wild and undisciplined. The only people that see anything wrong with being childless is the people who aren't childless and have the time I think they are just envious of the freedom that our choices have given us to pursue our passions. So no, I do not think there is anything wrong with you and I applaud your decision to think it through and not just have a child, because everyone is doing it and it is expected of you.
